Well what can I say “absolutely beautiful”. We had a fabulous day, eighteen of us had a
private tour to Bandos Island, so we were off the ship in one of the first
tenders at 7.30am. As they say, it is
not what you know but who you know. Once
at the dock in Male we had to wait about 30 minutes for our transfer to Bandos
Island. The trip to the island on a
donner (a water taxi) took about forty minutes and when we arrived we were in
paradise.
Bandos is a very small island, which you can walk around in about 10
minutes; it is ringed by a coral reef. We
found a lovely little beach with plenty of lounges right near a beach bar and
that’s wherewe stopped.
David went
snorkelling off the reef; there were lots of colourful tropical fish to be seen
including large reef sharks. We spent
the morning swimming & snorkelling the beautiful azure water, after which
we had a couple of drinks at the bar including my cocktail a
Maldivian Lady
(lovely), back to the beach to cool off before returning to Male to catch the
last tender to the ship at 3pm.
We had a fantastic sail away out the back on the deck 11, along the
way passing many small islands many with overwater bungalows.
We now have 8 sea days due to the Egypt cancellation; our next port
is Ashdod in Israel where we will be going to Jerusalem.
