Klang – Malaysia
We recently visited Klang which is the
port for Kuala Lumpur, the capital of
Malaysia. Having previously
visited Kuala Lumpur we decided that we didn’t want to travel up to two hours
over bumpy busy roads to catch a glimpse of the city sights again. So, after considering our alternative options
we found ourselves at the local shopping centre where, we were told, everything
is very cheap by comparison to home.
Well we had a look around the centre and immediate area, had a cup of
coffee and went back to the ship for a late lunch. All in all it was very similar to our own
shopping areas with prices also very similar.
Darwin – Australia !!!!!!!!!
Back on home soil again.
There were a few delays in berthing and
getting off the ship but we had already decided that we would just have a walk
around the city centre so we had a coffee on board to let the queues subside, we had plenty of time.
We found Darwin to be a very pleasant
surprise, the weather was warm (mid 30’s) and the humidity was bearable,
although Joan was a bit hot and bothered with the walking.
We met up with a group of friends who
were also seeing the city by foot and as a group decided that we needed a
refreshing drink. Well, one drink in one
pub turned into several drinks in several pubs, with our last being
strategically planned as close to the ship as possible.
We made it back to the ship with only a
minute to spare before the gangplank was raised, a first time I must add. Thinking about it though, travelling to our
next port would have been much easier from Darwin than any other port we have
visited ~ no passports, visas or foreign currency to worry about.
Whilst we didn’t see all of Darwin or its
highlights, we did see enough for us to want to return for a few days break in
the not too distant future.
Next stop Sydney from where we disembark
the Dawn Princess and fly HOME.
