Athens (take two)

This was our second visit to Athens, the first being an unscheduled stop.  This is the trip we had planned for and had a private tour organised with a couple we had met on board.

As soon as we could we were out to meet our driver and guide (Demetrius) for the day.  He was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English.  He took us to all the major sites where we had a historical overview before being let loose on our own for a spell.   We saw the changing of the guard at Athens Royal Palace, not quite to the scale as Buckingham Palace but spectacular non the less.

Lunch consisted of a traditional Greek fare in an out of the way restaurant that he recommended, and the food was superb, even in David’s eyes.

A very memorable day.
