Marseilles (France)

From Marseilles we took an all day excursion.  Our first stop was a walking tour of Aix-En-Provence (known as Aix ~ pronounced Ex).  Aix is a city of elegant boulevards, gracious squares and fine 17th – 18th century buildings.  The Rue de la Verrerie is noted for its restaurants and cafés, which of course we sampled in our free time.

After plenty of time in Aix we returned Marseilles where we had more free time to wander the old port, which has been restored to become what is now a thriving centre of activity both for the locals and tourists alike.

I’ve often thought that the Yorkshire saying ‘There’s nowt as queer as fowk’ was true, well one of our tour group proved this to be the case when he complained about the tour guide because she had a French accent…….

Next stop Malta ~ a first time for us and most people who we know on the ship.

PS - I have just been advised that one of my pictures has won first prize in the ships photo competition. It was the sunset behind the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.............
